Folks, this story is weird…
And, to be honest, it’s also pretty darn creepy!
Because there’s almost nothing as unsettling as realizing that someone has been in your house without your permission.
If you’ve ever had that happen to you, you know how unsettling it is.
A woman wrote the story below and talked about why she’s upset because she thinks some unauthorized people have been entering her apartment.
Check out what she had to say.
I think maintenance men are personally using our apartment.
“Moved in back in August. They are older townhome apartments but we do love them.
But…
Whenever we send in maintenance requests, if we’re not home, they never leave a note they were there. And even when maintenance guys come over when we’re present, they never leave the apartment like it was.
They ALWAYS leave lights on.
This is not cool…
Anyway. I come home. The door was locked. I come home and the hallway light leading upstairs is on. My husband isn’t home but I yell out hello.
No one answers. I have 2 cats so I call their names cause I know they were probably still terrified someone was over. My youngest comes down but my oldest is crying.
I follow the cries upstairs and my cat was shut in to my bathroom. And he was in there long enough because he used the bathtub as a toilet.
We have 2 bathrooms technically that connect in the middle with a bathtub. One bathroom we use constantly, the other one not so much. The other bathroom light was turned on.
This is actually really messed up!
So I’m freaking out that someone was in our apartment and I’m thinking if I forgot a work order I put in or something. I call the office. There are no notes that were left anyone was in our apartment.
I spoke to a property manager that was over for the day and she was going to get back to me.
Next day, no call. I spoke to our property manager. She told me they have a system that they have to use a fingerprint anytime someone checks out a key.
She looked and no one did on the day it happened. And she told me the locks were changed when we moved in. She didn’t really offer anything other than she was going to look into it, talk to the maintenance men, and told me if it kept happening to let her know.
She’s pretty worried.
So here my mind is leading to “okay, a maintenance guy has a COPY of our key and is using our apartment whenever the hell they want.”
Nothing has been stolen but what if they’ve been eating our food? I thought about asking if I could have the locks changed but it won’t matter if they make a copy again.
I don’t know what to do.
I’ve ordered indoor cameras now and I’ll catch the jerk but I just don’t feel safe leaving our apartment now, especially with our cats. They are my babies. Hubby and I were just thinking.. what if we did a small 2 day vacation and my cat was stuck in the bathroom.
I don’t know what to do…”

And this individual spoke up.
How scary!
I remember how freaked out I was for a while when I lived alone and someone broke into my apartment one night when I wasn’t home.
Creepy stuff!
This is a potentially dangerous situation.
