You know that phrase, “Dance like no one’s watching?”
Well, if you happen to be married to someone like the husband of the woman in this story, maybe that’s the best course of action…
What am I talking about?
Well, the woman who wrote this story is in some hot water because she danced…at a wedding…
The horror!
Check out what she had to say about the fallout from this big night out.
AITA for dancing at my husband’s cousin’s wedding event?
“Yesterday there was an event for my husband’s cousin who’s getting married.
It wasn’t the main wedding ceremony, it was a low-key one of friends and family I didn’t know how to explain it in the title. It’s kind of like a party traditionally with hand drums and also some music too. Nowadays we also vibe to some Taylor Swift to the eye rolls of the older generation, but that’s besides the point.
Anyway, the music was playing and some of his family were dancing. One of his cousins (the bride-to-be-‘s sister) she came to me and pulled me to the center to dance so I did. Yes, the entire family was there but it was just some fun songs and dance and I didn’t think anything of it.
Someone wasn’t happy about this…
My husband was curt with me the ride home I thought he was tired. When we were in bed and I was trying to cuddle he was still standoffish and so I asked what was up.
He said since when does it matter to me what he thinks.
I was taken aback and asked what the hell was he talking about.
He said I had embarrassed him amongst his family by dancing in front of everyone and that uncles and cousins of his had their phones out and I didn’t think about any of that.
I said no I didn’t I was just dancing because it was an event and I had been pulled by his cousin and the bride-to-be was having fun too.
Is he serious?
He said it was mortifying for him that the other guys were smirking at how little regard I had for him.
I asked why didn’t he just say something to me quietly then I would’ve stopped.
And he said you’re not a little girl and I’m not your dad you’re a grown mother of a 1 year old I can’t control what you do you’re old enough.
I honestly was waiting for a “sike.” It was so bizarre that he would keep it bottled up if he had such an issue.
There was no way for her to know what he was thinking.
I told him I’m not a mind reader I didn’t even want to dance it was HIS family member who pulled me to the centre, I was trying to participate in an event of HIS side of the family.
He said I was refusing to acknowledge my mistake and just turned his back to me.
Today we’ve melted the ice a bit but it’s clearly still hanging in the air.
Added context: To make things clear no the dance wasn’t suggestive. If it helps, look up “dholki” dances
AITA?”
