A Woman Wouldn’t Let Her Friend’s Boyfriend Use Her Car For A Camping Trip And Now Her Friend Is Upset With Her

It’s one thing to let a friend borrow your car.

Most of us have been there at one point or another, and we’re pleased as punch to help out a pal and do them a solid. But what if they push it and try to get SOMEONE ELSE to borrow your whip while you’re gone? That’s not cool!

I mean, unless it’s been agreed on beforehand. Check out what this woman had to say about a friend who is really pushing it…

Start now!

AITA for not giving my friend my car during my vacation?

“I (27f) love to travel and I go abroad 3-4 times a year.

I usually drive to the airport by car, as it’s much faster and easier than public transport. It takes me about 1 hour with the car, which would be 3 hours by public transport.

About 2 years ago, my friend (28f) moved to a house close to the airport and she offered me to leave my car at her house during my times abroad.

Not a bad idea!

That way I could avoid paying the expensive airport parking fees and when I had an early flight I would also be able to sleep over at her place.

In return, she could use my car for her daily errands during my absence since she didn’t have a car herself. It was a win-win situation.

Now I have a trip planned in two weeks and I asked her a few weeks ago if I could leave my car with her again during this time and she confirmed. Today I received a text from her new boyfriend who I have never met.

Huh?

He asked me specifics about the space in my car/if this and this camping gear would fit. I was confused and asked him to clarify since I didn’t know my friend wanted to go camping. Turns out he is the one going camping with his buddies and plans to take my car. My friend isn’t even going.

I told him straight away that I do not want him to take my car, that it was there to use for my friend but not for his camping trip. I have never met the guy or know anything about him or his driving habits and I don’t want my car in the hands of a stranger on a boys trip.

This whole thing is weird…

My friend is now texting me and demanding I give him my car as I won’t be using it anyways. So I told her that I don’t feel comfortable with that and that I will leave my car at airport parking this time.

They are both mad at me now for “ruining the boys trip” as they apparently depended on my car and nobody else has one.

My friend is even saying that I can never use her as “free parking” again if I go through with this.

But I would rather pay the airport parking than have my car damaged in any way.

The deal was always that she could use it, but we never discussed lending my car to other people.

Am I being too strict?”

She didn’t do anything wrong! And she sure as heck doesn’t want to be on the hook if this guy messes up her ride.

No way, dude!

Her friend definitely stepped over the line here…
