An Entitled Customer Argued About Closing Time — One Line From the Employee Ended It Instantly

Some customers just refuse to accept that closing time means closing time.

One employee locked the doors right on schedule last Saturday, only for an entitled customer to show up a minute late and hold his phone against the glass, insisting his clock said there were still two minutes left.

So when the same guy showed up again, this time he accused the store of closing early, despite the doors locking at the exact same time as always.

When he suggested the store’s clocks were broken instead of considering his own timing, the employee had one simple response ready to go.

You’ll want to keep reading for this one.

I am not changing all the clocks in our store for you

Last Saturday I had someone show up one minute after I had locked the doors. He stood at the window and tried to get me to open the doors.

When I refused, he put his phone up to the glass to show that his phone clock said that we were still open for two more minutes. I still refused.

That wasn’t the last he saw of this customer.

Cut to today, five minutes before I lock the doors. He shows up again and accused me of closing early. When I said that we close at the same time every Saturday, he then said that we need to fix our clocks.

Finally, the worker had enough of this nonsense.

I have had a long day and ended up saying the first thing that came to mind.

I replied with, “Maybe you need to fix your clock.”

This worker wasn’t going to put up with this any longer.

When he refused and started saying that it was our clocks that were broken, I cut him off. “Have a good day, sir,” and walked away to continue closing.

Take that, customer!

What did Reddit have to say?

Customers can be confusing creatures sometimes.

This user tells a story about when the clocks really were broken.

Common courtesy would have prevented this debacle from even happening in the first place.

At a certain point, this customer needs to look inward.

Two weekends in a row, same guy, same exact excuse, and somehow it’s still the store’s clocks causing the problem.

Insisting your personal phone clock overrides a business’s actual posted hours is a bold move, doing it twice within a week is just impressive commitment to being wrong.

The employee had every right to be short after getting the same runaround for the second time, especially with a closing time that hasn’t budged at all.

Closing time is closing time, dude.
