Anytime you answer a phone call at work, there is a risk that it will go very poorly, and that is doubly true when you work in retail.
What would you do if you picked up the phone and it was a customer who said that he thinks he lost his wallet in your store?
That is what happened to the guy in this story, but then suddenly the caller’s wife shouted from the background that it is in his jacket pocket. The caller then wishes him a good day and hangs up.
While some calls are awful, others are downright pleasant. Read through the quick story below and see what you think of what happened.
Not the worst phone call I’ve ever taken.
This just happened about 5 minutes ago.
No big deal, I’m sure this happens from time to time.
I took a phone call at work from a customer.
He said “Hi, I was just at your business about 20 minutes ago, and I can’t find my wallet. I’m hoping I left it there.”
This is too funny.
Before I could even acknowledge his statement and say I’d go check, I heard another faint voice (female) on the phone say “It’s in your jacket pocket, dumb***!”
After a brief moment of fumbling, the original caller says, “Oh, never mind, thank you, sorry to bother you, happy new year, and may you have the best day of your entire life.” *click*
Hopefully he will have a good day at work.
Thank you, kind stranger.
I’m at work, so that’s not likely, but appreciate the thought!
What a sweet call. You never know what you will get when the phone rings at work, so this was a good one.
Let’s see what the people in the comments have to say about it.

Well wishes are always welcome.
This person took a similar call.
Why can’t more customers be like this old man. What a great story.
Sadly, most stories from retail are the exact opposite of this.
