Have you ever had to deal with those shopping cart tokens in places like Aldi?

Well, there’s a chain of stores called Home Bargains in the UK and they have a similar token system for their carts.

The woman who wrote this story has a one-size-fits-all token coin for shopping…and she was a bit surprised when a fellow shopper demanded she hand it over.

Random lady called me a piece of garbage because I wouldn’t give her my trolley token.

“I do my general food shop once a week at ASDA and they have unlocked shopping trolleys so you don’t need to put a coin or token in.

However, I tend to get toiletries and other stuff from Home Bargains and they’re one of the few in my city you need a physical £1 coin or coin token to unlock the trolley.

That’s a smart idea!

I never carry cash, so I deliberately ordered some trolley token/coin shape thing off Amazon.

Anyway, I did my shopping and was putting the trolley away and this random lady asked if I could just give her the trolley as she didn’t have any change or a token thing and basically asked if she could have mine.

I said I was done with the trolley and I’m sorry, but I needed that token and wasn’t gonna give it away.

She then got really upset with me saying it wasn’t a big deal and its not like it cost much and I said no again.

Whoa!

She basically said I was a piece of garbage and angrily walked inside.

I saw her grabbing a basket as I was walking away back to my car with my shopping, so I don’t know what the big deal was.

I’m not a confrontational person and where I am in Scotland, most people are really friendly and alright, so this was a first.

Also, like I know it didn’t cost me much to buy it (a couple of pounds) but that’s not the point.

I know some supermarket trollies are locked, so I prepared for it and it’s not my issue if someone is caught short.”
