Everyone is quirky in their own way, and as long as it isn’t causing problems, you should respect that.

What would you do if you had a family friend who never wanted to eat at your house or with your family at all, even when offered many times?

That is the situation that the family in this story was in after everyone (including the friend) worked hard all day, so when he said he didn’t want any food and only some water, the mom ordered him a lot of water. The friend drank almost all of it just out of stubbornness.

While the situation does sound funny, it seems to me that this kid has some reasons for not wanting to eat with them, and they should just respect it. Read through the full story below and see if you agree.

Mother complied with a PITA friend

Important info before the story. My brother has a friend (Paco) who is kinda a pain when it comes to eating at other peoples houses.

Everyone is a little different.

He thinks it is rude to eat at peoples houses. My family doesn’t get it, even though we have known this kid since he was in kindergarten (sophmores now). He is more like a little sibling now than a friend of my brother’s.

Now onto the story. A couple of weeks ago, my aunt and her family was moving and needed help to move their stuff into a storage unit.

He is not comfortable with them buying him food.

So, my family, not including me, and Paco went to help. They said it was like playing a fierce game of Tetris, but they finished after a a couple of hours.

They were all hungry afterword, so they went to go and get food. They went through the drive through and everyone started telling their orders. All except Paco.

Why would she order so many waters?

He kept insisting that he was not hungry, even though they had been hauling in 80+ F degrees for multiple hours. Even after my mom kept telling him it was alright to order food, he would not budge.

He insisted all he wanted was water. So my mother complied. She ordered him 6 extra large waters for him to consume.

Wow, that isn’t even really safe.

They all went to a park to eat and Paco drank 5 of the 6 waters given to him. They were pretty sure it was just to spite my family, but it was still funny.

My mother was impressed and just laughs about it.

Why is it a pain to respect his desires?

Paco is still a pain when it comes to eating at other peoples homes, but that little bit of not hurtful malicious compliance was perfect for this PITA named Paco.

This is a funny story, but there could be many reasons why he doesn’t want to eat with them. He isn’t obligated to share those reasons with them.
