Being inclusive doesn’t mean letting someone ignore every rule.

One teenager says his friend group welcomed a new student and added him to their Discord server.

But once he joined, he started spamming the group, disrupting calls, and accusing everyone of targeting him when they asked him to stop.

Fed up with the behavior, this teen gave him a warning and even a temporary timeout, but the behavior only got worse.

Eventually, he was forced to ban him from the server, but now the student is threatening to report the group for excluding him.

Read on to see what happened next.

AITA for perm banning the autistic kid from our friend group gc server

I am 15 (M). I have a nice group of friends who I always hang out with, and we are really close.

We have this Discord server where we VC a lot and play games together. It is owned by a previous student in our school who’s our friend. There’s like 30 other out-of-school friends in this server.

Recently, a new kid (let’s call him Jonathan) came to our school, and we were really respectful with him after learning about his conditions. We took him into our friend group. He was not that close, but we were all friendly and inclusive to him.

As soon as he joined, the problems started.

However, after he joined the server, Jonathan became completely annoying. He was spam pinging everyone in the server, spamming words that didn’t make sense, and joined a lot of calls that we had and just screamed.

As the mod of the server, I told him to be respectful to other people and follow the rules, but he thinks that we are targeting him because of his autism. I told him that his autism does not mean that he should be a jerk towards other people, and it turned into a huge argument.

I decided to give him another chance by just timing him out for 2 hours.

After those two hours, he absolutely went too far, spamming more and saying that we all in the server don’t care about him. So I removed him.

Now, he’s not sure how to feel about the whole thing.

I think he begged one of our friends who wasn’t aware of the situation to add him back. At first, we didn’t say anything, but after seeing the comments saying how annoying he is by the server members during the time he was gone, he initiated yet another argument.

So I perm-banned him. Now he is threatening to report us, saying we are not being inclusive, and completely just side-eyes our friend group and looks at us maliciously.

He also told the other friend group in our grade of our “atrocious” behavior. They did not believe it, but his threat to tell the principal about this is not exactly a comfortable situation to be in.

My friends said that I was too decisive when banning him, but they would tolerate any consequences and not be mad at me. But I still feel bad because I am the one who did the thing to endanger the whole group.

AITA?

Yikes! Situations like this are never easy to navigate.

Let’s see if the people over at Reddit have advice.

This could be true.

This person thinks he actually did the other kid a favor.

Yes! It’s always best to stick to the facts.

This person doesn’t think he was wrong for banning him.

He gave him plenty of chances before banning him.

Besides, it’s obvious that his autism wasn’t the problem. The issue is that he kept breaking the rules over and over.

The best thing he can do now is save the messages and just stick to the facts.

It shouldn’t be hard for anyone to see that the kid is lying.
