Some people really enjoy making things harder than they need to be.
For this trampoline park employee, that meant dealing with a woman who needed help redeeming her Groupon ticket.
Since the park’s iPad wasn’t working, the employee explained how to do it through her phone instead.
But rather than follow along, the woman complained about the wait and started insulting the employee over a 30-second interaction.
Eventually, the employee had enough and told her to leave the line, but now he’s worried about losing his job.
Read on to see exactly how this scenario played out.
I finally stood up to a customer
I have been working at this trampoline park for almost 2 years now, since I was 16 years old.
I have never had any rude interactions with any customers because I try to be as polite and understanding as possible.
Today, for the first time, I finally had enough.
Since the iPad was down, he was showing her how to check-in on her phone.
There was a customer who had a Groupon ticket to scan, and we usually scan those on our iPad. Our iPad has been down, so I told the customer we would have to do it manually from her phone.
I was telling her which buttons to press, and she started being rude and acting annoyed. I repeated my instructions so I could check her in.
Mind you, I had checked several customers in the same way before her. Hundreds before her, really. And she continued to complain and say how it had never taken her this long to check her kids in before.
Then, the lady got more rude.
Also, mind you, she had been talking to me for only like 30 seconds. It hadn’t been long at all. And if she had listened to my instructions instead of complaining, it would have been smooth.
She then started insulting me and trying to make me seem incompetent when I know how to do my job. I wasn’t talking to her crazy, nor was I talking to her rudely.
After listening to her ramble, I told her to get out of my line without checking her in.
Now, he’s worried he’ll lose his job over it.
She then asked to speak to a manager, and I told her no manager was going to talk to her over her not following simple tasks.
I hope I don’t get fired over this because I know there are harsh rules regarding speaking back to customers. But I am human at the end of the day.
I am 18 years old, making minimum wage, and do not get paid enough to deal with overgrown adults. That woman was like 40 years old and couldn’t follow simple instructions.
Oh no! What an unfortunate situation for what sounds like a really good employee otherwise.
Let’s see what the readers over at Reddit think will happen to him.
What he did is allowed in this person’s country.
This is really kind advice.
Yes, they do.

He does sound very well-adjusted.
Some people need to realize that spending money at a business doesn’t give them the right to speak to employees however they want.
Because of that, it’s hard to blame this employee for his reaction.
Still, letting the manager handle it probably would’ve been the best decision.
Either way, it’s too late now. So, let’s hope management backs him up instead of making excuses for the customer.
