This happened a while ago, and my sister is still mad at me.

So I’m bringing it here to see if I was actually out of line here.

My (20M) sister (27F) ordered a package to a pickup hub across town.

She didn’t have a car to get it, so on a totally separate day from when I picked up my own stuff, she called me up.

She asked me to go over to the hub, collect her box, and bring it all the way back to her apartment using public transport (bus/metro).

This young man refused to get his sister’s package from the pickup hub.

I asked how heavy it was, and it turned out to be around 20kg (about 44 lbs). I told her no.

Lugging an awkward 20kg crate through buses, train stations, and walking several blocks on foot sounds miserable.

Especially when she was the one who ordered it knowing how heavy it was and that neither of us drives.

My expectation was that everyone handles their own packages and logistics.

She accused him of being ungrateful.

She got upset on the phone and called me unhelpful.

She ended up having to take an Uber to go get it herself.

Afterward, she sent me a series of messages saying that “emergencies happen.”

She said I should have stepped up to help family and that I left her in a bind.

He thought this wasn’t an emergency.

My point to her was that this wasn’t an emergency.

She deliberately ordered a 20kg package to a distant pickup point without a plan to transport it.

Then expecting me to act as her unpaid mover on a bus.

Taking an Uber was what she should have planned for from the very beginning.

Now, she’s acting like I’m a jerk. AITA?

Yikes! Carrying a 20kg package through public transport is a pretty big favor to ask.

I agree that OP has the right to refuse this request, especially since he doesn’t have his own car to drive.
