It can be really frustrating when someone steps ahead of you after you’ve waited your turn.

For one customer at a packed coffee shop, that happened after he moved aside to make a little more room.

When the cashier asked who was next, the man behind him stepped forward and started ordering.

Frustrated, he nudged him and said sorry before proceeding to place his own order.

The waitress was pretty shocked and called him rude, but he doesn’t think there was anything wrong with the way he handled it.

WIBTA someone just cut me in line so I nudged him aside and ordered and the cashier told me I was being rude, was I?

I was at a coffee shop, and the place was packed with a line continuing outside. Most stores had just closed, so lots of people were just off work.

I stepped to the side to make more room in the place, and there are 2 counters. Maybe the guy behind me was tired and didn’t notice the guy standing in front of him 15 seconds ago was now next to him, or thought I had decided to split the line in 2.

One of the counters finishes, and the lady asks who’s next. The guy behind me steps forward and starts to order.

Not wanting to wait any longer, he makes his move.

So I nudge him, say sorry, step forward, and give my order.

The lady stares at me and says I was being very rude, so I say I was first. She grabs my order but says I was still being rude.

I, confused, turn around and say sorry again, pay, and leave. I can be pretty awkward, but I can’t see what I could/should have done to be more polite.

WIBTA?

According to this comment, he shouldn’t have touched the other person.

This sounds like it could’ve been a misunderstanding.

The other guy might not have realized he was still in line, so it would’ve been better to just speak up.

But that doesn’t mean he had to give up his turn either.

In fact, the cashier should’ve focused more on sorting it out than embarrassing him in front of everyone.
