The other day, I was at an event hosted at a bar.

I knew almost everyone there and had a friend as my driver.

I was a bit tipsy at the time.

There is a woman who comes occasionally and brings what I’m pretty sure is an emotional support/service cat.

This man tripped over the cat’s leash.

At some point, she is at the bar. I am walking between sections of the bar.

Her cat is all the way on the other side of the hallway area.

So its leash is stretched across the entire length of the walkway.

Now, as I said, I’m a bit tipsy. But I am also in a bar where that is the vibe.

I’m not exactly watching my feet or expecting an animal to be there.

So I tripped over the cat’s leash and tugged the cat a bit.

The cat owner got mad at him.

It wasn’t hurt and didn’t even make a sound.

It just kind of shuffled around.

But the lady got mad at me and made a bit of a fuss about me not watching where I was going.

And now, I get stink faces from some of her friends when I go to similar events.

He thinks it’s not his fault.

Like, I’m a clumsy person already.

It’s likely even if I saw it and tried to step over it, I might have still tripped anyway.

There was no going around it. But also, it was a semi-busy bar.

She wasn’t paying any attention to it at the time. I don’t think I’m a jerk. But I did say sorry.

Honestly, this sounds much more like an accident than intentional carelessness.

I mean, come on, who brings a cat on a leash in a bar, right? And OP apologized after accidentally tugging it.

The owner probably had every right to be concerned about her cat, but holding a grudge over an accident seems excessive.
