My wife noticed something odd and came running back in frustrated.

She asked, “Is that how you defrost meat? Without a plate?”

This husband confirmed that that was how he defrosts meat in the microwave.

I told her yes, and that is how I’ve done it in the past.

She proceeded to worryingly tell me that now there is an unknown amount of raw meat contamination on the microwave.

As well as the countertops, dishes, and trivets that all now have to be thoroughly disinfected.

She asked how, as a grown adult male, did I not know that you cannot place raw meat on countertops and microwave surfaces without trays or plates.
