Not every special moment needs to be shared online.

The following story involves a man who decided to stop posting on Instagram because he no longer wanted to share his personal life online.

But when he and his girlfriend celebrated their third anniversary, she became upset that he did not make a post about her.

He felt their anniversary was a private moment, while she believed he should have made an exception.

Whose side are you on? Read the full story below for all the details.

AITA for not posting my girlfriend on instagram for our 3 year anniversary?

A few months ago, I decided I didn’t like feeling like I had to share my life with a bunch of online “friends.”

Most of whom I never actually talk to.

Posting on Instagram started to feel more like a chore than something I enjoyed.

I realized I was only doing it because it felt normal.

This man’s girlfriend called him out for not making an Instagram post about their anniversary.

So, I deleted all my posts and my profile picture.

I still have the app because I like scrolling Reels, but I haven’t posted anything since.

Yesterday, my girlfriend and I celebrated our 3-year anniversary.

She was really upset that I didn’t make an Instagram post for her.

I told her that, to me, it was a special moment between the two of us.

I didn’t feel the need to share it with hundreds of people online.

Now, he’s wondering if he was in the wrong.

Since I’d already stopped posting months ago, I honestly didn’t think it would be a big deal.

Should I have just sucked it up and made a post anyway?

Or is it reasonable to stick with the boundary I’ve already set about not posting on social media?

What do you guys think?

Honestly, OP has a valid argument since he had stopped using Instagram for sharing updates about his life.

While creating an anniversary post is a meaningful gesture, his girlfriend should understand that it wasn’t a personal decision not to announce it online.

In my opinion, we can still show our appreciation and love in ways that don’t involve social media.
