I love when someone stands up for a co-worker.

It seems to be rarer and rarer these days, so when it does happen, it’s time to celebrate!

And that’s why today’s story is so satisfying.

Take a look at what this professor had to say to a student who tried to throw a colleague of his under the bus.

Student complains his professor isn’t grading fast enough. Other professor stands up for him.

“This happened a few semesters ago.

It was like 5 minutes before class started so people were just chatting and the professor (we’ll call him Professor S) was setting up his slides.

I overheard a student talking with a seat mate about one of his teachers.

I don’t remember it word for word but it was kind of like: “Dude, professor Z grades so slow. I literally turned in my assignment days ago. What is he doing?”

Hmmmm…

I thought it was weird because 1) you’re not the only student he has and 2) he’s an adult with a life outside his job.

Apparently Professor S heard him too and he spoke up real quick.

Bam!

Told the kid that he knows professor Z and that he’s doing what he can.

He basically reiterated that Z has things going on, he has tons more students to grade besides the kid, and that he shouldn’t talk about people like that and have some patience.

He was a lot more serious and stern than that but you get the idea.

Good for him!

The kid quickly stuttered an apology and then Prof S started the class.

That was the first time I heard a teacher speak up about something like that.

He retired last semester I think but he was an awesome teacher.”
