Is this normal for apartment living?

“I’m new to renting and got into this brand new apartment building in a nice part of town. I live alone in a small two bedroom.

Uh oh…

But I’ve been having issues with the people above me. I’ve put in numerous complaints about extremely loud music being played past 10 pm till midnight, and it took three complaints for them to stop.

They have two kids, I can hear constant stomping and running back and fourth and chairs scraping over and over and sometimes screaming. They still play loud music sometimes but it’s during the day as is most of the other noise.

This would definitely drive me crazy!

I understand regular daily noise but for people to be constantly loud, it’s really hard to not get frustrated by it.

I’ve been debating ending my lease early if this is what normal apartment living is but I wanted insight from others if this is a shared experience or if the people above me are just abnormally loud.”
