It’s frustrating when you make something for your family to enjoy and someone decides they can just give the rest away without asking.

One teenager ran into that after making confetti squares for her family’s Thanksgiving dinner.

She bought the ingredients herself and made enough for everyone at home to have a few.

The next day, though, she went to grab another one and found the entire dish missing.

Then, her stepdad came home from work with the empty container and admitted he had given the rest to his coworkers.

AITA for being angry about my confetti squares being taken

I love to bake and love food in general, and I also love making food for my family.

Our Thanksgiving consisted of me, my mom, my two brothers, and my stepdad. I decided, along with my mom’s lemon pie, that I wanted to make confetti squares for dessert. It’s basically peanut butter, butterscotch chips, and rainbow marshmallows. My mom was eager to let me make some.

I should preface that they aren’t hard or time-consuming to make, nor do they use up many resources, but I had paid for all the ingredients myself and used up the ones I had bought. I made enough for my family to all have a good few, but not any more than that because I didn’t think they’d leave my family.

The next day, the squares had disappeared.

After our Thanksgiving feast, my family all had a square, and everyone loved them. I’d also eaten one. Just one. And there was still a lot left.

The next day, I’m helping out with cleaning up, washing dishes and cleaning the table, putting things in containers, and cleaning out the fridge.

Evening comes, and my family has all had another confetti square, except me, because I was napping. Turkey will do that to you. I go to have a square and find the dish gone. The pie is still there, all our leftovers are still there, but not my squares. My stepdad was at work, and he came home later with the empty dish I used for my squares.

When he told her what happened, she got very upset.

I asked him why he had it and where the squares went. He said he brought the rest to work, and his coworkers loved them.

I got upset because I said I made those for the family. If I had known he wanted to bring some to work, I would have made more. I told him I only got to have one, and he said it was fine because “I’ve had them before in the past.”

I got pretty mad now, saying I made those with stuff I paid for, and he didn’t even have the decency to ask if it was okay. He was yelling at me, telling me I was selfish and greedy because they’re just little dessert squares and it doesn’t matter.

Now, they tease her about it when she bakes foods.

My mom got pretty mad at both of us, saying I was overreacting and being a *****, and that my stepdad should have asked.

After that, I just shut myself in my room for the rest of the night.

I never got an apology, an explanation, or anything. He didn’t take any accountability. My mom and him still hold it over my head. Whenever I want to bake something, they’re always like, “Oh, don’t let anyone but you touch them, or else you’re gonna blow up.”

AITA?

Yikes. That’s actually enough to make most people upset.
