Generally when you have a young family, having another family living next door can be a real blessing. Your kids can play together, and you might even have a situation where you and the other parents can trade childcare favours – plus, if you get on well, you’ll always know there is someone there in an emergency. It’s a perfect arrangement to have – but everything has to fall into place just perfectly for two nice young families to be living close to one another at the same time. It’s not unlikely, but it’s not something you can set your heart on.
And as the woman in this story proves, having a family living next door to your own family can be a very different experience indeed. Because it’s not just dependent on how the kids behave, it’s how the parents actually parent their kid – and as these kids show, neglectful parenting can lead to kids running riot.

Neighbor kids won’t leave my family alone
I have been living in my apartment with my husband and children for about two years now.
Our neighbour and her children are not very friendly and we never really spoken before, so therefore we do not know them at all.
They’ve always done weird things, I think to get our attention like go up to our ring doorbell camera and make weird faces.
One time the daughterm who is a pre teenm went up to camera and put her whole face in the camera and said ‘get the knife get the knife,’ laughing with her brother while walking away.
But that was just the start of their weird behaviour.
They have water ballooned my car and only my car before. They have thrown eggs for my patio, and just the other day they egged my vehicle with several eggs.
These kids are monsters and I don’t know what to do – I’m waiting to hear from the office on what to do.
Their mom just wants to argue her way that her kids are kids it’s not a big deal. This is literally a nightmare. Her kids are in middle school they do know better.
They even broke the apartment laundry window.
And all this is leaving this mom feeling helpless.
I know it’s up to the office to decide what they need to do, but I just wonder if there’s anymore I can do.
I made a police report, but how can I press charges on kids?
I just feel like there’s so many personal attacks it’s my family only that is being targeted and I do not understand why.
Our children do not know each other there’s absolutely no reason for them to do this.
Yikes, this is a really horrible situation to be in.
To be targeted like this and have absolutely no idea why?
It must make this family feel unsafe in their own home.
Let’s see what the Reddit community made of this.
This person thought she should get the police involved.
And others encouraged her to get more cameras to protect her family and their property.

Meanwhile, this Redditor thought there might be a key reason why the kids were acting this way.
Honestly, it’s very unlikely that kids who are acting like this are being treated well at home. And with a mom who just argues instead of hearing people out, you can see why. Probably these kids are neglected and not given the love, care and support that they need to grow into healthy adults. And the sad fact is that this kind of thing isn’t even rare.
But while we can sympathise with these kids perhaps, it’s no excuse for them terrorising this neighbouring family, who have done nothing wrong at all. Perhaps they are jealous of what seems to be a happy family where the kids are loved and cared for, but targeting them like this is wrong and something that is likely to have serious consequences.
Because she should absolutely report these kids to the police, providing records and any evidence of their wrongdoing. And if they don’t get in trouble since they’re minors, their mom should for sure.
