She Quit Her Nightmare Job and Thought She Was Free—Then Her Ex-Boss Stalked Her New Company and Demanded a Referral

The internet has a ton of value and I can’t imagine life without it, but it makes it hard to avoid toxic people in your life. I miss being able to completely and immediately shut people out.

See why this person probably feels the same.

I RESIGNED

I got a much, much better offer with a title AND salary bump and put in my 2 weeks from my toxic job last week.

My manager went OOO after I resigned, and today was the first day she was back. She had the audacity to beg me to refer her to my new company.

I’m not actually surprised. I’ve seen far more shameless behavior and yes, I shut it down.

She even insinuated that she deserved the job more than me because she was my manager and she is local to the company and they wouldn’t have to let her work remote.

This company is letting me work remote because they want to grow their clientele in my city. In addition, I worked with them personally and have a relationship with them so there’s no reason why the opportunity ever would’ve even landed on her desk.

It’s a great feeling and such a relief to have dodged this creep.

I feel so free. This person made me feel awful. Never boosted me up, commandeered all of our one on ones to talk about herself, and constantly was telling me it would be funny if we both quit at the same time.

Well, I took her advice and quit, and now she’s pouting like a middle schooler acting jealous and like I owe her anything. Given everything listed above, you can imagine why I would never want to refer her.

It feels so good y’all. I don’t have to care about the constant jabs these last two weeks and never have to talk to her again after that.

Here is what folks are talking about.

I’ve been discouraged like this. It feels like the world is against you.

LOL in a tutu! I took ballet lessons for eight years and I’m still annoyed we didn’t get tutus.

Indeed they’re not just awful people; they’re kind of stupid, too.

Definitely. Stories like this inspired me to find ways to jerk-proof my business and I’m still so relieved.

I always feel happy for folks who get a better life. I’ve done this in other ways and get compliments like this.

Worker cancels narc boss and is astounded by the audacity of her to stalk her and ask her for a favor.
