There’s only so much one person can handle when nobody around them is willing to help.
One Arby’s customer saw that play out after he gave up on the drive-thru and went inside instead.
The restaurant was slammed, and one cashier was trying to handle both the front counter and drive-thru by herself.
Meanwhile, her manager and the cook were in the back joking around instead of helping her catch up.
After taking his order, the cashier finally reached her limit. She took off her headset, walked out of the restaurant, and left.

Arby’s cashier walked out after taking my order. I told the manager “I don’t blame her”
Arby’s drive-thru was too long, so I went inside.
Inside was slammed too.
There was just one girl on the register. She was overwhelmed, and her manager and the cook were back there joking and laughing while not hurrying up their speed in making orders. Nor did they make any effort to help this girl at the front with taking both window and in-store orders.
Once the cashier was gone, the manager was left taking orders.
After taking my order, she took her headset off and just walked the **** out, got in her car, and left. I laughed.
After about 5 mins, I got the manager’s attention. Other people were waiting in line. He asked me where the cashier went, and I said, “She walked out.”
He apologized and gave me a refund (basically giving me my meal for free).
I then said, “Well, I don’t blame her. She should’ve had some help up here. There’s too much going on for 1 person at the front. I used to work in a place like this, and it’s because of trash management like y’all that I’m so glad I don’t work in customer service/fast food anymore.”
Apparently, he didn’t like the comment.
He gave me the dirtiest look I think I’ve ever seen someone give me as he brought out my food.
I then said, “Thanks for the free lunch,” and left.
It felt so good. I hope that cashier girl found her peace.
Wow! Good for her! It must’ve felt pretty great in that moment.
Let’s take a look and see if the readers over at Reddit have ever done anything similar.
This person also had a bad experience working at Arby’s.
Yes, but they should still help their struggling employee.
It was enough to make this person walk out first.
If you enjoyed this story, check out this post about an employee who was passed over for a promotion, so got a job with the competition and quit immediately.
Again, these managers still have jobs to do.
You can’t blame her for walking out.
For starters, it’s never fun dealing with a growing line of customers.
But more importantly, no one wants to be the only one working while everyone else is joking and having fun.
Maybe next time, the manager will decide to help before that cashier walks out too.
