Prince’s Epic Solo Gets Re-Edited by the Director That Originally Filmed it 17 Years Ago

At his 2004 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction, Prince joined Tom Petty, Steve Winwood and Jeff Lynne on stage for an amazing rendition of “While my guitar gently weeps”, delivering one of his most memorable guitar solos ever.

Also on stage was Dhani, son of legendary Beatle George Harrison, who was also inducted that year. Joel Gallen, who produced the live show said there were some shots and transitions that always bothered him, and 17 years later, he finally decided to re-edit the segment! We shared the original version in 2016 but this one is even better! On YouTube he adds:

17 years after this stunning performance by Prince, I finally had the chance to go in and re-edit it slightly – since there were several shots that were bothering me. I got rid of all the dissolves and made them all cuts, and added lots more close ups of Prince during his solo. I think it’s better now. Let me know what you think.
