On 19 October 2015 a huge rockfall took place on Rocher du Mel de la Niva above the village of Evolène in the Swiss Alps. Roughly 2,000 cubic meters of rock collapsed down the mountainside and the thundering sound could be heard throughout the valley. Nobody was hurt and no property was damaged.
