A ruptured pipeline in the Gulf of Mexico set the Atlantic Ocean ablaze on Friday and it took Pemex more than 5 hours to extinguish. The company blamed a gas leak from an underwater pipeline for sparking the blaze.

The fire began in an underwater pipeline that connects to a platform at Pemex’s flagship Ku Maloob Zaap oil development. Shocking videos of the surreal sight of the ocean on fire and needing to be extinguished with even more water has spread quickly online.
