Shark Cam Captures More Than It Bargained For

In 2013, a team from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution took a specially equipped REMUS ‘SharkCam’ underwater vehicle to Guadalupe Island in Mexico to film great white sharks in the wild.

The SharkCam was outfitted with six cameras: 5 mounted on the nose and one facing the rear of the vehicle. This gave scientists a close-up, panoramic view of great white sharks in the wild. What they didn’t expect was for the SharkCam itself to become the target of several predatory attacks.
