The First Two Hours of the Newly Introduced MTV in 1981

YouTube video player

Believe it or not, MTV used to actually play music videos.

If you’re too young to remember the good old days or you want to revisit them, here is a video that shows the first two hours that MTV was on air when it debuted on August 1, 1981. The very first video the network aired was “Video Killed the Radio Star” by The Buggles. MTV’s VJs then introduced themselves: Alan Hunter, Martha Quinn, JJ Jackson, Nina Blackwood, and Mark Goodman.
