On November 18th 2011, a group of students at the University of California Davis gathered for an Occupy protest, forming a human chain. When the cops showed up requesting them to disperse, they refused and Lieutenant John Pike and another officer casually walked down the line administering a heavy dose of orange pepper spray. The video of the event can be seen below.

The Internet gravitated towards Lt. Pike’s aloofness at the whole ordeal, finding his demeanor both absurd and laughable. Days later, two Photoshops appeared on Reddit and the meme snowballed. Here’s a collection of the Sifter’s 35 favourite photoshops to date. Enjoy!
