A Bald Eagle and Canada Goose Squared Off and Someone Caught It All (10 Photos)

Nature photographer Lisa Bell was vacationing with her family at Spider Lake Springs in British Columbia, Canada and witnessed a once-in-a-lifetime encounter between a bald eagle and Canada goose.

In an interview with CTV News, Bell explained:

“There was a whole bunch of noise to begin with. The eagle was sitting on the goose. I scooted to get my camera, and when I came back down he was still there. The goose basically was playing dead. The eagle went to adjust itself, and the goose’s back end came up. The eagle was having a hard time keeping the goose down, and he managed to break free.”

The goose retreated to a nearby pond and dove underwater, evading the eagle and living for another day. Bell posted the incredible sequence of photos to the Facebook page, Vancouver Island Images, where they have been shared over a thousand times.
