Everyone likes feeling needed. But what happens when you’re treated as a spare at your own job?
A man who is feeling invisible at his own job is considering leaving, despite the perks.
Let’s read the whole story and see what people are saying.
I’ve Been Assigned 0 New Tasks As Legal Assistant For A Month Now
I was promoted to legal assistant at a law firm after completing a paralegal course.
I was moved up into the pre-litigation department of the firm I work at.
About a month in, my employer hired someone with more experience as a legal assistant and told me to move back to my old ****** desk.
And it got worse.
It’s been a month, and the day I was moved back to my old desk, I stopped getting tasks.
I’ve been sitting at my computer for a month now doing nothing.
I know some people will say it’s “free money” or a blessing or something, but it’s genuinely enraging that after two confrontations about this with HR nothing has happened.
He’s just not happy.
So I’ve been sidelined and basically erased and now feel like Milton from Office Space.
I hate the people here, I hate sitting at a computer all day with nothing to engage me.
I just want to leave because I don’t want to waste time.
Thanks for listening.
Feeling like you’re not needed at your job stops being fun really fast.
Let’s see what Reddit had to say.
Sound advice.
I disagree that this will work for this job, but it can help him personally.
Another reader shares their thoughts.
Why not?
Another great way to spend his time.
And don’t let them take it!
If this job is not supporting the person he wants to be in any way, he definitely needs a plan.
