Some customers seem to think the loudest voice in the room should also get the fastest service.

So when one impatient customer rolled into a small repair shop with a shredded skid plate and an ignorant attitude about the mechanics speaking Spanish, he quickly found himself arguing with a boss who refused to tolerate disrespect.

You’ll want to keep reading for this one!

Talking smack about the employees in front of the boss, you can walk it off for 2-5 weeks while we fix your car

My shop has had a fair amount of drama lately due to the climate and my boss having to put up with ignorant people questioning why our mechanics speak Spanish around customers.

My boss makes it clear to these people to mind their own business and, if they want to go somewhere else, that Pep Boys, dealerships, and Walmart are in the next town over.

Customers usually stay because this particular shop is cheaper, but they still continue to be rude.

That generally shuts them up because a tow to the next town over is over $350 one way with the bad tow truck, and it’s $500 on the flatbed.

In comes Boomer Dan. Dude has a real chip on his shoulder.

Dan isn’t the most competent when it comes to cars.

Dan drives a new Honda sedan and somehow thinks it’s the same thing as a 4×4 because he couldn’t afford a truck.

He basically ripped the plastic skid plate and somehow got it wrapped around one of the halfshafts, making a lot of noise with a burning plastic smell.

He demanded we fix it quickly because he needs it back before he goes to LA.

The boss warns him of the risks, but Dan doesn’t seem to care.

My boss warned him we could take it off, but there might be other damage caused by the plastic.

He didn’t want to hear it.

Then he turned his attention to some tech goofing off, laughing, and replying to someone in Spanish.

This really triggers Dan.

He said something to the effect that if he hired some proper mechanics, they would get **** done faster.

But this boss wasn’t going to stand there while Dan disrespected his crew.

My boss took it as disrespectful and told him he’s going to have to wait a week, maybe five, to replace the part, or he can drive it out to the next town (we were kind of hoping for it just to catch fire), or get towed.

Dan basically ate ****, left his car, and walked home.

Now Dan has to face the consequences of his ignorance.

He now has to wait two weeks for a job we finished at the end of the night last weekend, with the replacement only costing $75.

Surprisingly, he didn’t do any serious damage to his car except the plastic cover.

There’s nothing better than a boss who actually goes to bat for his employees.

What did Reddit make of this story?

Just because you don’t speak the same language as an employee, doesn’t mean they’re any less competent.

It pays so much more to just be nice.

It’s unwise to offend someone you depend on.

The language someone else speaks isn’t nearly as important as some people make it out to be.

A good attitude is optional, but basic respect is non-negotiable.
