Imagine realizing cash was stolen from your apartment while the doors were locked. If you thought you knew who took it, what would you do?

In this story, one renter is in this situation, and he’s pretty sure a neighbor took it. This neighbor seems to have broken into his place before, and there’s other odd behavior that makes the neighbor suspicious.

I would not feel safe living next to a neighbor who has broken into my apartment.

A thousand dollars in cash went missing from my place.

I live in the country in a small apartment complex that experiences no foot traffic.

I had left to do errands, locked my doors and took my dog with me.

When I returned I noticed that my back door was unlocked and a few things were out of place.

On closer inspection I noticed that my rent money was gone from it’s hiding place.

Earlier that day my neighbor told me that if I needed food and that they had food.

I found that comment to be very odd especially as I have a job and a decent paying one at that and then I discovered that the money disappeared from its hiding place.

The week before someone had been pulling down my Halloween decorations and siphoned 3/4 of a tank of gas.

There have been no strange cars in the parking lot.

This sounds awful!

Over the years the woman have been one of the worst neighbors ever.

As an example she’s complained about noise despite the fact that she is profoundly deaf and that my TV is kept at 10% volume.

When I have had visitors they only stay for a few minutes but wonder how I can put up with the noise from their apartment as well as her voice level.

As I am writing this I can hear her talking and there’s a living and bathroom between my home office.

Yikes!

I’ve also caught her walking around my apartment uninvited despite getting the locks changed.

One time my dog got lose when I wasn’t home.

The neighbor on the other side told me that the neighbor in question placed my dog back into my apartment.

The deadbolts were locked.

A camera would help.

I had the locks re-keyed again and reported it to the authorities and the landlord.

I’m also getting a ring camera.

But right now it’s out of the question because of the large amount of cash that went missing.

BTW my landlord has never been around unannounced.

I’d want to move away from there. It’s totally the neighbor. I wouldn’t feel safe in my own home.

I would be so creeped out thinking someone has planted cameras in my home! That’s probably what the neighbor has done though. How else would she know where he hides his rent money?

The neighbor sounds so creepy. He definitely needs to get cameras and evidence. I also wouldn’t leave anything valuable in that apartment.
