Magnific
No job is worth sacrificing your peace of mind.
This woman had been struggling in a workplace where she felt disrespected and blamed for problems that weren’t her fault. Despite trying to do her job, the toxic workplace continued to take a toll on her. Eventually, she reached a point where she had to make a difficult decision.
If you have been in a toxic workplace like this, you can definitely relate to this story. It’s one of those career experiences where constant disrespect slowly wears someone down. Read the full story below.
I quit my office job today
I’m not going to get into too much detail for identification reasons.
But I friggin’ hated my job. So today, I packed my things and announced my departure.
I worked in the Business Office at a nursing home.
If you’ve ever worked in LTC, you probably know that those nurses are miserable and therefore, witches.
The nursing staff has lied about me to my supervisor which resulted in micromanaging me being necessary to cover my butt.
This woman was treated poorly by her colleagues.
Since I’ve started, I have received several complaints for countless reasons.
All while being treated like dirt by the people with the most authority in the building (which also happen to have a great relationship with corporate).
It was clear after months and months of running out of the door, crying after being humiliated or undermined in my responsibilities.
Without being able to do anything about it, so I decided the only way to “win” was to just leave.
She decided to leave once and for all.
I was told “don’t give them the satisfaction”, but I feel like complacency would get them off more than the middle finger would.
These people that talk down on me get to prance back to their offices and get paid a salary 4x the amount of mine.
And at the end of the day, the resolution management could come up with was essentially for me to do more work to avoid annoying them.
So today, I told them that I’m done waiting for someone to stand up for me and I’m leaving.
She also advises everyone in the same situation to quit their toxic job.
I sent in the manager a chat message:
“I’m quitting because [aggressor] and [aggressor] can’t treat me like a human being. Thank you to those who had my back.”
Then, I left. It’s gonna be rough for a while, but at least I don’t have to sell my happiness and peace of mind to a bunch of witches.
This is your sign to quit your stupid job.
Walking away isn’t always about giving up, but choosing peace of mind. Since her workplace had truly become toxic, it’s understandable why OP decided enough was enough. Hopefully, she finds a healthier environment where she’s treated with the respect she deserves.
