Noise complaints should come with at least a little evidence behind them, but not this one.

One tenant spent weeks fielding false complaints about late-night stomping and furniture dragging, despite working night shifts three days a week and not even being in the building on two of the dates in question.

But management emails and a submitted work schedule weren’t enough to convince her downstairs neighbor.

The accusations kept coming, culminating in a late-night email claiming an hour of noise while she was clocked in at work.

A timestamped photo from the break room ended the argument instantly, and the real source of the noise turned out to be something neither of them expected.

For about a month my downstairs neighbor kept complaining that I was stomping around late at night.

Management emailed me twice, and he left a note on my door saying the noise after midnight was getting ridiculous.

But this renter points out one very glaring flaw in the neighbor’s logic.

Problem was, I work nights three days a week, and two of the dates he complained about, I wasn’t even in the building.

I sent management my schedule and figured that would be enough, but he kept insisting it was coming from my apartment.

But still the neighbor wouldn’t give it a rest.

Last week I was at work around 1am when he emailed management again, saying I had been dragging furniture and walking around for the last hour.

I saw the email on my phone because management copied me.

So the renter decided to show management proof.

I sent back a picture from the break room with the time visible and said, unless someone broke into my apartment to rearrange my couch, it wasn’t me.

Soon they found the actual culprit, but of course the neighbor showed no remorse.

Turns out the noise was coming from a pipe behind his bedroom wall. Maintenance found it the next morning.

He hasn’t apologized, but he did quietly take down the note he had taped to my door.

I kind of wish he left it up, because the part where he underlined “be considerate” three times was starting to grow on me.
