Living in an apartment building can be difficult when neighbors constantly disturb the peace.
The following story involves a woman who struggled with a neighbor’s dog that barked continuously for hours whenever it was left alone.
The noise echoed through the building’s ventilation ducts and flooded her entire apartment.
After management and police failed to resolve the problem, she felt increasingly powerless and frustrated.
What do you think she could do about this situation? Read the full story below for all the details.
Dog barking in apartment building.
Hello. I have this situation. A neighbor from two apartments below has a dog.
And she frequently leaves her dog alone for several hours.
Of course, the dog is barking the whole time, up to 4 hours continuously.
This woman could hear the dog barking really loudly due to the empty ducts.
The thing is that this building has some kind of internal ducts.
I don’t know the name in English, but it’s like a hole from the roof until the ground floor, supposed to exist for ventilation.
So toilets and laundry rooms have windows to that area.
Of course, it is empty, so every sound is always echoing.
That dog barks really loud, and it floods my whole apartment.
She had taken a couple of measures, but nothing was happening.
I have talked to management, and of course, the rules of the building have a chapter related to dog barking.
But they do nothing, what a surprise! I also called the police, but nothing happens.
And finally, I reported to animal protection, but let’s see what happens.
So far, this situation is driving me crazy, and I feel powerless.
Like I can only wait for someone to do something, but I got tired of being nice.
Now, she’s asking for ideas and suggestions on how to deal with it.
I think that other neighbors don’t complain, as management once replied that they want to make a conciliation meeting.
As if I was the one who is creating the problem.
But it doesn’t seem that anyone else has complained about it.
Any suggestions? Ideas? Leaving is not an option.
Yikes! Four hours of nonstop barking can really test anyone’s patience, especially when the building seems to amplify every sound.
I can truly understand OP’s frustration. She had tried reaching out to management, police, and animal protection, yet she didn’t get a clear solution.
Hopefully, someone finally takes the complaint seriously before she completely loses her mind.
