When you live in an apartment, you have to expect that you will hear some noise from your neighbors.

What would you do if your neighbor requested that you stop flushing your toilet and shutting your door at night, and when you refused, they began playing loud music and refused to stop?

It’s been going on for months and it’s affecting my sleep and my mental health.

Part of the problem is that the walls are too thin.

Getting into an escalating feud with your neighbors over noise is never a good idea. In this case, however, the upstairs neighbor is being unreasonable.

There is nothing wrong with flushing a toilet or (softly) shutting a door at night. If that makes too much noise, the landlord should fix it.
