Loud neighbors are annoying enough on their own. Loud neighbors whose party guests wander into the wrong backyard take that annoyance to a whole new level.

One homeowner secured her gate the same way she always does, latched, pole in place, dog safely inside.

The problem started next door, where a backyard party sent noise, and apparently a few confused guests, drifting toward her house.

So when her dog almost got out of the unlatched gate, she knew she needed to have a serious talk about boundaries.

Neighbor had a party, friend opened my back gate

I have some neighbors who love to party, and we live close.

They were outside yelling in their backyard.

That’s when the real boundary was crossed.

A couple of their friends must have thought my house was theirs and went to my gate, and even though there was no party in my backyard, my gate was latched closed with a pole in it, and they opened it up.

It also looked like it was closed when I let my dog out, but when I inspected it, they had not latched it at all, so it was completely unsecured.

The homeowner notes how badly this could have ended, all thanks to this neighbor’s carelessness.

Thankfully she stays close to home anyway and is safe, but I’m actually fuming.

If I had noticed last night, I wish I had confronted them during their party.

Some people don’t care about anyone but themselves.

A simple lock would likely prevent this from happening again.

This user agrees a lock is the best path forward.

This homeowner needs to have a conversation with the neighbor sooner than later.

This should be common sense, but common sense seems to be severely lacking these days.
