Have you ever been in the middle of a stressful workday and you get so flustered by distractions that you lose your cool?
I know I’ve done that!
And I usually come to senses a short time later and apologize to anyone I might have been a little curt with.
But not this woman!
She’s doubling down on how she behaved and she wants to know if she perhaps took things a bit too far.
Read on and see what you think.
AITA for sending a long text to my husband’s friends about my boundaries.
“This happened years ago, but I am still thinking about it.
My (33F) husband (33M), has a long-term friendship with a guy Rick (33M).
Rick has a girlfriend, I’ll call her Jean (38F). My husband introduced me to them, we had a double dates in several occasions, they had been nice to me. We gave each other gifts on birthdays, etc.
One day, we decided to have a dinner together again. Rick had an idea that since I worked at a restaurant (at that time) we could get food from the place I worked.
Sure, why not?
Meaning that I was the one who brought the food. Should be an easy peasy thing to do, if Jean was not too particular with the selections of food.
One night before D-Day, Jean and Rick called me and my husband to discuss about what should I get.
Jean and Rick had a long allergies list, and mind you I worked in a restaurant which served ethnic food (for lack of better term), we used a lot of spices, and there are soy sauces in everything.
However, I tried to accommodate since I understand that allergies can be a matter of life and death situation for some people.
I was very busy during my shift, and still tried to be responsive to Jean, who kept texting me about the food.
This was starting to get annoying…
There were some difficult requests from Jean and Rick. Such as they wanted all the dishes in different containers, because Jean wanted to heat the food in the pan, not microwave (Jean really concerned about microplastic in the food).
I got mad, and told my husband that I would rather cancel the dinner, because I was not able to fulfill every request, and I felt Jean was being so pushy by texting me during my shifts (at some point I said that “I really needed to go, the restaurant is busy”, and Jean replied with a passive aggressive text “I understand”).
Jane and Rick were disappointed that I canceled the plan. They said that we “can easily get takeaway” if bringing food is too complicated for me. Jane and Rick also mentioned to my husband that actually they prepared a little gift for my birthday.
I was too mad at that time. I felt that both Jean and Rick didn’t respect my boundaries but kept adding more requests knowing that I was in a busy shift (I was their friend at the end of the day, not their waitress).
Was she overreacting a bit…?
I sent a long text to Rick about how I felt (my husband who suggested me this, instead of texting Jean – he felt Jean would be angrier), explained my situation on that day, and apologizing for canceling. I told Rick that mainly I felt not respected.
On the other side, Rick and my husband also had a conversation said “yeah, we should sit together and talk about this”.
Meanwhile Rick didn’t reply anything to me. He also said to my husband that Rick and Jean felt my words were too harsh, and needed time to recover from what happened. My husband was on their side more than mine, said that I was overreacted and should not cancel the plan.
We haven’t met again as couples until now, Rick and Jean went MIA from my life, only my husband still seeing Rick sometimes.
AITA?”

I think she needs to slow her roll and apologize to these folks…
Because all she’s doing is stirring up drama with her husband’s friends.
Grow up a bit!
She might’ve overreacted just a wee bit in this situation…
