Some neighbors can make their property surprisingly difficult to keep clean.

This woman has been living with a friend in an upstairs apartment. She noticed that their downstairs neighbor kept leaving his garbage bags in the backyard instead of properly disposing of them. This has started creating an unpleasant and unsanitary situation, especially with skunks being attracted to it.

Neighbor is just throwing trash outside

I have been living in my apartment with one of my best friends for about a year now.

The setup is that we share a porch with our neighbor but have separate doorways, so we never really bump into him.

He rarely leaves the house, and the most I’ve heard him speak is overhearing him screaming at shows or video games.

He has NEVER brought his bin to the curb on trash days, and we’ve been noticing garbage bags piling up in our back yard… so, yeah.

This woman finds her neighbor’s habit of leaving the trash in his backyard disgusting.

The crazy part is we live upstairs and he’s entirely downstairs, so it’s easier for him to just walk out front and throw his trash in the bin instead of outside.

Not only is this obviously disgusting, but it’s been attracting scavengers, primarily skunks.

I texted my landlord about it a few days ago, and he’s annoyed.

He took away the bags, but instructed the guy to pick up the trash that animals have drug out of the bags.

She plans to report him to their landlord again.

Three days have passed, and the trash is still sitting out there.

I’m gonna text my landlord about it again once the weekend is over and hopefully get some resolution.

But I just wanted to share this story and see if anyone else has any similar stinky stories.

OP was right to bring the issue to the landlord instead of trying to deal with the neighbor directly. Once the garbage started attracting skunks, it became more than just an unpleasant habit. I agree that it is something that needed to be addressed immediately.
