I kind of wish my roommate didn’t clean anymore.

“I live with my partner’s family.

Some of them I consider family and some I don’t, which is why I refer to them as “roommates.” For the couple years I’ve done most of the cleaning in the house. I like to do it… I’m an acts of service kind of person, but it gets tiring.

As much as I wish other people cleaned more, now I wish that they don’t.

My roommate as of this year started doing a bit more cleaning like dishes, or wiping down the counters. She still does not do any other household chores. But I used to be grateful because I work three jobs.

Her and her partner are both stay at home parents. She has more time in the day to tidy, clean, and whatever. Contribute to the household like everyone else does.

Plus, sometimes dishes are the last thing on my mind!

This whole situation is kind of weird…

I realized at some point, she will load the dishes wrong to the point where they’re not even getting cleaned in the dishwasher.

Sometimes she will load a quarter to half of the dishwasher and run it. Most days I have to rewash the dishes that she’s washed. Now also because she’s started doing dishes she will leave things like utensils, bits of plastic, metal piping tips, and etc in the sink.

It will fall down the drain and she will use the garbage disposal. Which she does not pay to fix when it breaks. I thought that was so annoying up until now.

Last week, her child got sick. Since then, everyone asked her to sanitize.

Ahhhhhhh, no!

Now I regret so bad. She has been using bleach to clean everything then wiping it down with bleach wipes. It makes the whole house smell so intensely like bleach.

I have spoken to her. Others have spoken to her. Her partner has spoken to her.

Nothing we tell her will make her stop over using product.

The only thing she stopped is spraying bleach in the air!

Which is also like.. girl, what the hell are you doing?

What is wrong with this woman?

Not even telling her that her child shouldn’t be around this amount of bleach or chemical usage has made her stop or lighten up!

We have a dog who’s kennel trained during the day. Our poor dog probably has to sit through multiple bleach bombs a day! She’s over using product that she doesn’t even pay for!

And it’s objectively terrible for everyone! I’m about to let her win the cleaning wars and tell her to STOP I’ll do it!
