News Standards And Ethics

The trust of our readers is essential. These are the standards of our journalism. We are always looking to improve. However, we aren’t always perfect. Writers and editors make tough editorial decisions every day, and the hardest and most important calls rarely have obvious answers.

Sourcing And Fact-Checking

Fact-checking is expected to be accurate. Editors are expected to research before publishing. Accurate information can always be added after publishing.

Embeds

We strive to embed first TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and not to upload. In cases where identifying the user is inappropriate but the content is still newsworthy, screenshots with the name and image blurred.

Facts and Information

Information should come from a verified sources. We do not rely on Wikipedia, IMDb, and other websites that can be edited. We believe that acceptable sources include interviews, legal documents, research by experts, academic journals, databases, and, with attribution, stories from trusted news organizations.

Plagiarism

Nothing may be copied, pasted, in entirety without proper commentary, criticism, journalism or being transformative in some substantial form.

Corrections

Stories that are ongoing with updating news can be added with information as it becomes available with a timestamp for updates. Writers should provide clarity and context. We always strive for clarity and transparency in the spirit of being accurate and reliable.
