Some neighbor disputes can grow faster than weeds.

This woman and her husband have been dealing with ongoing tension with their neighbor. Their latest disagreement involves weeds near the shared property line, which the neighbor insists are coming from their side of the yard. Despite their efforts to maintain the area and keep the peace, the neighbor continues to complain.

Karen has been bullying us for 5 years

My husband and I (mid 20’s) bought a cute little house in a safe neighborhood 5 years ago.

Ever since, we have been bullied by our mid-50-year-old neighbor over our grass.

When we first bought our house, we had asked her to stop letting her dog loose to dump in our front yard.

I think this put a sour taste in her mouth.

This woman talked to the owner of the property next door.

Then, we needed to replace the entire fence in our backyard (which we share a property line with her).

Since she is just a renter, our HOA requires us to reach out to the homeowner to have him sign permission.

She refused to give us his name/phone number and told us she already talked to him about the fence and he doesn’t want anything to do with it (helping pay; etc).

We then found him by using the county tax accessor website and he said she never brought it up to him.

And, of course, he wants to help pay for his part of the fence (that was literally falling down).

He is actually a very nice guy. He said she is a terrible person but a good tenant because she never calls him to fix issues.

Her neighbor dug a trench to separate their plants.

Anyway, the big issue is that we share a property line in the front yard.

On our side, we have grass, and on her side, she has super gross mulch that she plants pumpkins into every year.

Her issue is that she claims the weeds are spreading from the grass on our side to the mulch on her side.

And she wants us to weed the weeds out of her mulch as they pop up.

To make things worse (and uglier) to combat the weeds that she blames us for, she dug a trench to separate our grass and her mulch.

But now, there are just ugly weeds growing in the trench and she lined her mulch with cinder blocks so it looks like the weeds are on our side and that we are just neglecting.

Now, she doesn’t know what to do with her crazy neighbor.

We have literally been mowing and leaf blowing the trench (to blow away the weed-creation particles) to appease this crazy woman but she still records us mowing.

What would you do? Fill the trench? Keep letting the weeds grow? Fill it with dog crap?

The thought of spending any money to fix this mess makes us feel like it’s not worth it because this is just our starter home.

Her landlord said he is likely going to kick her out to sell the house in a couple years.

But that’s still a couple years of living next to the wicked witch of the west.

Some neighbors can be a pain in the head. OP and her husband are clearly just setting boundaries and keeping their property clean. What’s sad is that they may have to accept that no amount of effort will satisfy someone who is determined to find something to complain about.
