European School Trip Gets Tense After Chaperone Confronts Student’s Constant Negativity

No, it’s not an attractive characteristic, but some folks are simply wired that way.
Like the teenager you’re about to meet in this story.
He was speaking his mind while on a European school trip, and a teacher let him know that his constant complaining was a real drag.

AITA for “complaining” about the school trip I was on?
“I’m a student of a European language, and I was on a school trip with around 20 other students my age (16-18) to a city where this language is spoken.
Because there were not enough students at my school studying this language to be able to fund a proper trip, the department had to pair up with the science department, so the split of science students and language students was half and half.
The members of staff on the trip were my language teacher, and the science teacher, a guy who’s around 30 and generally easy going and chatty, although he can get angry occasionally.
This didn’t get off to a good start…
So the first thing I did that annoyed him was that I questioned how useful this trip was to science students. There were only 2-3 science focused activities throughout the 5 days.
I must stress that this was a discussion between me and my friend that he overheard and butted into. I did not say this with the intention of him hearing. To be fair, those science museums were amazing, and enjoyable for everyone.
However he really blew up at me on the 4th day of the trip. We had gone to a park to see distant fireworks, and we sat in a nice spot, that I really liked, although the fireworks weren’t visible from there.
I didn’t really care, however the language teacher did, and I said it doesn’t matter too much. Ironically, when we were leaving the park, we passed a spot within it with a perfect view of the fireworks.
I joked to my friend that we chose the worst possible spot for seeing the fireworks.
This guy sounds a bit unhinged…
This time, the science teacher butted into our private convo again, and started berating me about how I’m ‘always complaining’ about the trip.
The rest of the trip went on, and things eventually went back to normal, but I’m still questioning myself on whether I’m in the wrong.
I feel like his judgement of me ‘always complaining’ is unfair, because firstly I wasn’t talking to him, just to my friend, and secondly, I have a very restrictive diet and had had to eat just fries, or just bread on multiple occasions where everyone else had full meals, and I never said a bad word about that and reassured the teachers it was fine.
Others I have told say that I didn’t necessarily do anything wrong, but that my statements without context could sound offensive to him.
