AITA for wanting to use some of my inheritance to buy a car?
“I (18 year old male) have an inheritance of about $20,000.
When I got it, I was a kid so it was given to my mother to manage. I’ve been using my bike and public transport to get around but now that I have a stable job (it pays about $35 an hour).
The job is moving chickens from one farm to another.
The shifts are random, long and we are usually working at night. It’s hard getting to and from work especially when my shifts regularly finish just after midnight. I would ask someone from work for a lift but most of my shifts there isn’t anyone who can drive me.
This guy needs his own car…
At the moment my mum is driving me but it is hell trying to get a lift. I’m about to turn 19 and want to buy a decent car for my birthday.
I have a small amount of other savings so I can cover initial costs. I want to take out 10k but when I went to talk to my mum about she basically said no.
She can be quite controlling such as this example.

I have Life 360 on my phone and she still interrogates me on where I’ve been and throws a tantrum when I won’t answer exactly where I’ve been or what I’ve eaten or drank (my mum has put us on a strict diet that I can’t stand).
She also throws a tantrum when I don’t tell her what time I will be home even when I’m at work
She also will sometimes demand that I give her a hug and will tell me I’m a horrible person and have a tantrum until I do so. Sometimes when she hugs me she brushes her hand against me in ways and areas I don’t like.
This whole thing is really creepy…
I’ve told her to stop but she always get very defensive says that it’s an accident and I can’t tell if it is or not.
The problem is she basically runs my life at the moment and I don’t know what to do.
