Package delivery runs on a pretty basic trust system, but it’s pretty easy for the system to fall apart.

One woman ordered a cooling mat for her cat during a heat wave, only to find out two weeks later that it had been dropped off at a neighbor’s house without so much as a note.

When she finally tracked it down, the neighbor claimed she’d already sent it back for sitting too long, but produced no tracking number, no receipt, and absolutely nothing of substance to go on.

Repeated attempts to get proof were met with even more avoidance, so soon the buyer began suspecting malicious intentions from their neighbor.

I think my neighbour kept my package

I ordered a cooling mat for my cat since it’s been so hot.

When the package reached the wrong house, the tenant started to do some investigating.

It was delivered at a neighbour’s house (while I was at home) and the delivery guy didn’t even ring the door. So I didn’t know my package was delivered there since there was no note.

After like 2 weeks I was wondering where my package was, so I checked the website and it says it’s been delivered at my neighbour’s.

But this wasn’t as straightforward of an approach as she hoped.

I went to go get it but the lady said she had already sent it back because it was there for too long. (IMO it’s weird that she didn’t ring my door before “sending it back.”)

The neighbor seems to revel in being as difficult as possible about this.

I’ve also rung the door like 6 times to ask if she has a track and trace code or at least proof that she sent it back, but she won’t open the door (or I’m unlucky and ring every time they aren’t home).

So now it’s like 1.5 months later, my package is lost and still hasn’t been returned to the company. They won’t give me my money back or send another one or whatever.

The tenant soon begins to suspect the worst.

I think she maybe kept it, since she has a dog and I don’t think she likes me.

The only thing worse than a missing package is a suspicious neighbor who may have had something to do with that missing package.

Claiming to have returned a package without ever knocking, texting, or leaving a note is just plain unbelievable.

Add in a little pre-existing tension and a dog that probably isn’t the only thing guarding that house, and the whole thing starts to seem less like a mix-up and more like some kind of convoluted plan.

The only thing missing more than the package is a good explanation.
