Safety is definitely important on a job site, especially on a construction site. While following safety procedures can sometimes be annoying, it’s better to be safe than sorry.

But in this story, one safety officer abuses his power to try to get the employees to support his drug habit. He gets away with it for a while, but eventually one employee comes up with a plan to get evidence and get him fired.

Job site scum finally gets what he deserves

This story occurred a little over a year ago while working for a heavy construction company out of north carolina.

They had a guy who ensured we followed safety protocol, and essentially had his word over anyone. Meaning if he saw something that was unsafe, he had the authority to stop work.

We all agree to what he has to say even though its a pain in the but because osha fines are ridiculous and the cost of life is even more.

This guy deserves to be fired.

However…. This guy, constantly abuses his power on the job site. Threatening employees with write ups if they didn’t do certain illegal favors for him. Such as buying him weed, pills, anything he could get his hands on.

He was a jerk. Not only would he out employees in really uncomfortable situations. We were all drug tested by this guy routinely, and he knew at least those of us who pass time and time again did not do this stuff.

Moreover, he had ridiculed me on the jobsite in front of everyone one day and nothing happened. He made fun of me for an hour and a half till i finally flipped on him and got suspended for two weeks cause he was secretly videoing me.

He only showed the portion of the video where i told him to ____ off and flicked him off.

He decided to turn the tables.

One day he tries this junkie crap with me because I had hopped into a machine and had not filled out the inspection sheet.

The machine was not on, and its bucket was on the ground.

To fill out these inspection sheets, you must be in the machine to check your gauges, steering, etcetera, and its standard protocol.

I turn on my phones recorder out of his visual field as i’m about 5 feet up above him in the drivers seat. I recorded everything he said.

He had the proof he needed.

He threatened me with immediate dismissal for doing my job, saying “looks like you were out of the machine, with it running bucket in the air, your inspection sheet is not filled out, and I really don’t know what we’re going to do here… he then smiles and says clear as hell on the recording. If you get me half ounce of good weed, this won’t go any further. But this is looking like you are fired. You have till the end of the week or i’m filing the report.

I met up with my direct supervisor who also despised this guy and we devised a plan. Tell him i’ll have it to him on Thursday at a gas station a few miles from the job site.

Meanwhile. I was to stay out of visual field while my supervisor sat in my car. Had tinted windows and you could see someone in the car but couldn’t see any features whatsoever.

This guy would get into the car and his boss would be sitting in the driver seat of my car!

It worked out well for everyone except the awful safety officer.

It worked perfectly, he was told that this recording was more than enough to ruin his entire life. But that losing everything in his company account before being fully vested was more than enough. Also that he should not bother collecting his things at the site, because.. as per contract all work badges are to be taken upon dismissal. And since he was not dismissed at work. He had no way of getting through the gate of this place.

Not sure if they mailed or gave anything back to him.

But everyone on the site was so much happier with our new safety officer. He understands production and safety and has a good medium. He’ll work with you. And, he’s not a complete junkie in charge of drug testing people anymore.

I love how his supervisor plotted with him to fire the safety officer when he wasn’t at work.

It definitely didn’t work out well for the awful safety officer.

This is a really good question.

It’s ironic that the druggie was responsible for drug testing the employees. It’s also awful that he would threaten the employees if they didn’t support his drug habit.

I’m glad he got fired. It sounds like the work environment is much better now.
