Neighbors should clean up after any yard work that’s done along a shared property line.

The following story involves a woman whose neighbor had their massive bushes trimmed, but the debris was left all over their property.

For 15 years, she and her husband had been enduring problems and inconveniences brought by this same neighbor.

As they reached their breaking point, they were tempted to simply toss the debris back over the fence.

Is that the best thing to do?

Neighbor’s debris

We are in California.

Our neighbor had their bushes, that had grown to 15 feet, trimmed yesterday.

The bushes lined the fence next to our property. Much of the debris fell onto our property, and they did not clean it up.

Just so you know what kind of people they are.

This woman had many bad encounters with the neighbor.

1.5 years ago, the SWAT team had to access our backyard so that they could shoot tear gas into a bedroom that was adjacent to our home.

If Amazon mistakenly delivers our items to them, they have only given them to us when forced and after all packaging has been removed.

Their pit bull bit my husband in the thigh 3 times, sending him to the emergency room.

Bounty hunters knocking on our door looking for help.

It’s been 15 years of random inconveniences.

It’s been 15 years of one thing after the other.

But they have never tried to hurt us other than stealing our Amazon packages.

What we want to do is drop everything back over the fence.

Honestly, after 15 years of problems, it is understandable that OP and her husband are completely fed up.

Once or twice could be forgivable… but 15 years? Whoa! I might also lose my mind.

I think, however, throwing the debris back could easily turn another annoying incident into a fresh neighborhood dispute.

A cleaner solution would be to document the mess and make the neighbors deal with it. What do you think?
