Magnific/Reddit
Workplace rules can get a little ridiculous, especially when snacks and drinks are involved.
The following story involves an employee who received an email from management.
The email basically said that employees were no longer permitted to get snacks and beverages from the breakroom.
This rule also came with a punishment when somebody was caught violating it.
He thinks it’s unreasonable for someone to get punished simply by wanting to eat at work.

Is this a reasonable workplace rule, or are we being punished for someone else’s actions?
For context, the email basically says employees can no longer get snacks or beverages from the breakroom.
And violating the rule could result in being removed from the site.
My workplace recently sent out this email about snacks and drinks in the breakroom.
And honestly, I’m annoyed by it. We’re now being told we can’t get anything from the breakroom.
And if we’re caught doing so, we can be removed from the site.
This employee thinks this new rule is unfair.
I understand there’s been an issue with people taking things.
But applying the rule to everyone seems excessive to me.
Being removed from the site over a snack or drink is crazy. 😭
These jobs getting ridiculous. Am I being tripped, or is this an extreme way to handle it?
I agree that it sounds harsh to punish employees simply for taking snacks or drinks from the pantry.
I understand OP’s frustration over this issue, but perhaps there was a bigger incident that led to the implementation of this new policy.
Raising this concern to management should be the best action to take in this situation.
