Setting boundaries with extended family is hard enough without your own partner undermining your needs.

One woman, exhausted after seven straight days of unpacking in a brand new home with two kids underfoot, asked her husband to simply push back a visit from his uncle’s family, who traditionally expect a full dinner whenever they come by.

Spoiler alert: He didn’t. Instead, he told them to come anyway, leaving her suddenly responsible for hosting six extra guests and preparing a full meal on a night she’d already planned to order takeout and rest.

AITA because I refused to host guests because I was really tired

So my husband and I just had an argument.

Basically his uncle’s family wanted to visit the whole family, including his kids, and they always stay for dinner.

But little did they know, it’s been a stressful few weeks for this family.

We have just moved into our new home a week ago, and now after seven days of continuous work it feels a little like home again.

Hosting people is pretty much the last thing this busy mom wants to do.

It’s not fully ready like home should be, but most things are in their place, and with two kids I am so tired these days.

She tried to defend her peace and quiet, but her family overrode her.

So his uncle called and told him they are going to visit, and his family always stays for dinner. I told him to tell them no and say some other day, BUT he didn’t.

He told them to come, and now I have to host 6 more people and prepare dinner when I was just thinking of ordering something for ourselves.

So AITA for refusing to host them today?

The real problem here is her spineless husband who decided to put his own selfish needs above the needs of his exhausted wife.

Here’s hoping this woman gets the rest she needs — and a husband who actually respects her.
