Have you ever had really inconsiderate neighbors who don’t respect your property at all?

In this story, one homeowner had to deal with a family whose kids would often play in his driveway and leave their toys and bikes in his driveway when they went home.

Don’t they have a driveway of their own?

The parents didn’t do anything to stop the kids, so the homeowner took matters into his own hands. He did more than take care of the toys and bikes.

They definitely ticked off the wrong neighbor!

Let’s read all about it.

Stop letting your kids use my driveway as their play area

When I had my last home, (in a small 30K pop city) I was one house from the corner, so I had a long, narrow drivway (could fit 6 cars) wedged between my home and a hedge with 6′ fence on on the other side.

I always had to pull out slowly, because the fence made it difficult to see people turning at the corner.

But the rented house on the corner had a bunch of kids and they used to always play in my driveway, often 15-20′ in, without my permission.

If they were too far down, you couldn;t see them between the house and the fence, so they were almost hit more than once. And they would soimetimes leave their toys and bikes in my driveway.

OP got rid of anything the kids left behind.

I told their mom and dad to keep the kids and their stuff out of my driveway.

They did not.

So, the next time they left their toys their, the toys got cut up and put in the trash.

And when their bikes were left there, I dragged them to the garage and cut the biked up with my Sawzall before putting them out for recycling.

But there was an even bigger problem.

They were also running an illegal daycare. One woman and her sister watching 20 -30 kids for the summer.

So, the next time they raised a stink, I went down to city hall (where I was on a first name basis with Code Enforement, Streets and Buildings, and the Fire Chief) and explained to Code Enforcement what was going on.

They contacted the right department, who sent people down. A month later , they were evicted.

My neighbors now in my new home (in a new town) are actually very good and we all get along.

People who are doing something illegal need to lay low not tick off the neighbors! OP certainly handled that situation well.

Let’s see how Reddit responded.

Obviously, anything illegal should be banned!

Another person has a mixed reaction to OP’s actions.

This person thinks parents need to be more concerned about their children’s safety.

I wish he had donated the bikes and toys instead of destroying them and trashing them.

Regardless, he did the right thing by reporting the illegal daycare. I’m glad he has better neighbors now.

Parents need to teach their kids to stay out of their neighbors’ yards and driveways!
