It sucks being broke, don’t you think?

You want to go out, participate in activities, and have a good time, but realistically, you just can’t come up with the funds to do it all the time.

Unfortunately, this can lead to people being left out…and left behind.

In today’s story, a woman opened up about why she didn’t include her sister on a day out with family and, as you can probably imagine, it didn’t go over well.

Read on and learn about the fallout from this episode.

AITA for leaving my sister and her kids out of a lunch and a movie?

“About a week ago my brother planned this whole event where we’d eat at a Korean BBQ and then see the new Spiderman movie.

The people going where myself, our mom, my dad, my older brother, my older sister, her husband and her baby. This whole thing was planned while we where playing a game and my parents weren’t originally a part of it until later because my brother wanted to eat with them.

Today we did as planned, ate then saw the movie. My older sister and her husband left after eating because they didn’t want to take their baby into the movies.

While as we were waiting for the movie time my other sister called (different from the married one) I missed it so I had to call her back, and I guess she was asking where we where.

She had originally called my mother but my mothers phone is wacky so I called her then passed it to my mother.

Uh oh…

Well when my mother told her we where walking around the mall waiting for the movie time she had gotten upset and hung up the phone. After the movie we got home as she was still upset, her boyfriend was trying to say that she was upset by it as well.

After a few minutes I did apologize to her. Telling her we had assume she wouldn’t have the money for it and no one wanted to pay her and her kids’ way.

Gee, sorry…

That it was wrong to have assumed so and I was sorry for doing so. She told me they had gotten paid that day and would have been about to do it.

Later she goes outside. I go outside to tell my parents that she’s pretty upset and we shouldn’t have assumed she couldn’t go. My mother goes to talk to her.

After some more times passes, now inside, I tell her boyfriend he might want to check on her after my mother was done talking to her.

It seemed like an honest mistake.

When my mother came inside he goes outside. My mother said she thought the conversation went well, that she apologized as well for assuming and that they loved her.

Soon my sister comes back inside, her boyfriend does as well and he tells me they are going to go for a drive. So they get their two girls in the car and drive off.

However when they were getting the girls, he said “I guess they’ll get that grandparents experience somewhere else.”

Wow…

Then I found out he told my mother she was a bad parent and shouldn’t have done all this.

My sister isn’t working, she’s trying with her own nail business but we live outside of town so she’s not bringing in any money. Her boyfriend works minimum wage at a gas station.

Her sister sounds like a bit of a mess…

The reason we believed they wouldn’t have the funds is because they don’t pay for her car or car insurance, my parents do, I pay for her phone bill, they live in my parents’ home rent free, and they don’t pay for food here.

Literally my sister ask me for gas money two days ago, gas for my car that I’ve been letting them use because her car’s registration is out and they haven’t paid it. All of this, we had assumed they couldn’t go and no one could pay her or her kids way.

I do feel bad, even after apologizing but I feel that even if they had the money to go they shouldn’t use it. They should be saving it up for her car and other things.

I and the others should have definitely invited her and I acknowledged that but they have more important things to spend that money on.

AITA for leaving her out?”

Here’s what folks had to say about this on Reddit.

I think she believes that she legitimately wasn’t doing anything wrong.

So you can’t really fault her for not including her sister.

Still, you know that this will definitely cause some more problems in the future.

It sounds like her sister needs to grow up!
