A birthday dinner for a brother-in-law shouldn’t need a disclaimer.

In this story, one woman and her father have been living with her sister’s now ex-boyfriend since their mother passed away, paying rent and helping raise his kids in exchange for a place to stay.

So when they threw him a small birthday celebration, dinner, cake, a nice moment worth remembering, she posted about it on social media.

Her sister saw it differently, texting the next morning to say her feelings had been hurt “more than you could ever know.”

But considering this same sister has twice taken money from her savings without permission, she’s not exactly quick to rush to comfort her.

My sister’s now ex-boyfriend put my father and I up in his house when our mother died.

We pay rent and help look after his two kids when he’s busy.

So when his birthday came around, she wanted to go all out.

We wanted to celebrate brother-in-law’s birthday with a nice dinner and cake. It was a good time. He considers us family.

I posted about it just for the sake of making memories, and my sister texted me early the following morning.

She didn’t take kindly to this at all.

She said I had hurt her feelings “more than you could ever know,” since no one gave her that treatment for her birthday a few weeks ago.

But she doesn’t have the best relationship with her sister.

Additional context, my sister’s taken money from my savings without my consent twice.

Most recently, to pay for her car’s gas to make the trip from her current home to her ex’s frequently.

That wasn’t all.

This last incident was after she moved out of the house fully, but still visits their kids.

So she had to have moved everything to get to my safe, open it, and take money out. In a sense, I was unintentionally funding her trips here.

She says she’s “not mad, just shocked and hurt.”

Claiming hurt feelings over a missed celebration loses credibility fast when the same person has broken into a locked safe, twice, to fund her own agenda without asking.

That’s not exactly the behavior of someone entitled to sympathy over a social media post.

Her sister’s reaction reads as a lot more manipulative than it does sincere.
